The year begins...
Since I last wrote, the concert season has begun in earnest. Our first tour for 2009, Larger Than Life, was a great success with appreciative audiences in all centres. The Bernstein in particular drew many comments. Thank you very much for your keen support and warm response - it means a great deal to all those both on stage and behind the scenes. Emma-Jane's little Sebastian came with us whenever possible and Niki celebrated her 5th wedding anniversary whilst on tour!
Here are some comments from both audience and press:
"It was such a wonderful, intimate concert this afternoon and I personally was transported by the Brahms. Such fabulous players, fabulous women." Brisbane
"What a fantastic start to your 2009 season. Weren't we Canberrans lucky to be the first to hear your Tour 1 concert! I loved the Bernstein - a piece I'd not heard before and you gave a very strong performance of the early Beethoven. The Brahms too was a triumph of brilliant ensemble work." Canberra
"I thoroughly enjoyed your concert last night - my first experience of Selby & Friends - and am looking forward to the rest of the season." Melbourne
"Thank you to Kathy, Emma-Jane and Niki for a very beautiful concert on Wednesday evening. The choice of music and the execution of it were manna for the musical soul. I am really looking forward to the concert in May, particularly the Mendelssohn - one of my favourites." Melbourne
"Just got home. Delightful concert - even Bernstein's percussion was superb. We both enjoyed completely. Thank you again for your usual beautiful presentation." Adelaide
"Your Trioz concert at Turramurra yesterday was really delightful. Although the Romantic classics are our type of music, it was really good to hear Leonard Bernstein's Trio. I thought the pizzicato and double stopping of the strings was quite beautiful together with your dynamic contrasts. Thank you." Turramurra
Firstly may I say as a professional performer myself, what a wonderful performance we attended by Trioz in Bowral last night. Your ensemble, intonation and shaping of phrases is outstanding. Bowral

Our second tour of the year approaches quickly in early May and is entitled Momentous Milestones. This tour celebrates Peter Sculthorpe's 80th birthday, the 200 years since Mendelssohn's birth in 1809 and Haydn's death the same year. A Little Lunch Music
We have already presented two lunchtime concerts in City Recital Hall and the response has been stupendous. Audience numbers have literally trebled and the March concert saw my guest, cellist Clancy Newman, playing with me to a huge and very enthusiastic house. His own music and views were particularly popular and it was a delight to work with this extremely talented young man. Our next concert is on Thursday 30 April when TRIOZ will return and present works by Dvorak, Mozart and Beethoven.
Tickets are still only $10 and may be purchased through City Recital Hall Angel Place box office or by visiting this link: http://www.cityrecitalhall.com/events/id/463/A-Little-Lunch-Music/
Until next time...
I will be in touch again soon and in the meantime wish you the very best.
Warm regards,
Kathy
