Selby & Friends presents its eighth season in 2014 with another exciting ensemble cast of brilliant and charismatic performers from around the globe. Featuring outstanding soloists and renowned chamber musicians from Australia, Sweden, the UK, Germany, Finland and the USA, 2014 will also see Selby & Friends introduce two talented young Australian performers to our Development Artists program - Som Howie in Tour 1 and Hugh Klüger in Tour 5.

We are proud to present two World Premières in 2014: a new work sponsored by the S&F Audience Commission Award from Australian composer Paul Dean, and Clancy Newman’s own new work in Tour 1. I am delighted to announce that Selby & Friends, in conjunction with ABC Classic FM, is in the process of recording Beethoven’s chamber music for an exciting radio series to be broadcast in the near future. So you may notice a decided emphasis on the great master in the 2014 season with a special program devoted entirely to Beethoven in Tour 2. Here we explore his extraordinary growth through a lifetime of great works which cover Beethoven’s early, middle and late periods.

For Turramurra patrons, please note the concerts will begin at 2:30pm in 2014. In addition, one concert (in May) will occur on a Saturday afternoon to avoid a clash with Mother’s Day.

And as always, young people are a priority in our audience with 14 years and under admitted free. Once again we will be celebrating the very best in chamber music and I hope you will join me and my extraordinary friends and colleagues for what will be a truly exhilarating season of both great music and great performers!
